🔸️ Thirst for Godly devotion must increase day by day! 🔸️

In Philippians chapter 3, we find the secret of how Paul was able to live a high standard of Godly life. "not by having a righteousness that comes from the law, but that which is through faith in Christ—the righteousness that comes from God on the basis of faith..... I press on to take hold on that". This was the secret of Paul's pursuit of a noble Christian life.

The justice of the Law could only lead a man to the outward sanctification. The law forbade outward killing. Likewise, the law also prohibited adultery. But Paul was not satisfied with these. On the contrary, Paul longed to receive "the righteousness of God," which comes through faith in Christ.

The righteousness of the New Covenant of Jesus Christ is that one should not commit adultery in his inner life! The New Covenant was able to maintain justice by not being angry at one's heart and remaining pure in his mind. Thus Paul was desperately thirsty to attain the righteousness that comes from God. Paul compared the justice of the Law with this noble God's righteousness, and he regarded them as "mere garbage"! (Verse 11). Ah, this is the real thirst!! Only those who have seen the merits of the New Covenant's righteousness that bring holiness to our hearts can have thirst like Paul's.

When we came to Christ at first, the thirst of our hearts was just a small cup. God filled that! Now the size of our heart has expanded and our thirst has become a 'bucket' size. God fills that too!! Gradually .... this thirst grows, develops into a river .... then this thirst develops into a river having many branches.... rivers of living water is flowing within us!! Thus the life of those who come to Jesus with thirst, as He said "from his heart, rivers of living water will flow within him!" and there is no doubt in reaching this stage!!

 Prayer:

Our Holy Father! May the thirst of Godly devotion be in us like Paul's "fervent desire"! Bless us to increase that desire day by day! In the name of Lord Jesus Christ, Amen.
