🔸️ Stand firm in trials to inherit Promise! 🔸️
When Abraham reached Canaan, the Lord said, "to your offspring I will give this land". (Gen.12: 5,7). It was only after coming to the land of affluence that God examined Abraham... Yes, God tested Abraham! And just like that, God will test you and me!! This time the "famine in the land" was the test (Gen. 12:10). What would you do if God told you to go into the land of Canaan and after that there was a famine in that prosperous Canaan? Do you live by the thoughts of your feelings? Or do you live by hearing God's voice speaking to you through His Spirit? Listen to a wonderful verse that tells us how Jesus was in this situation: "....and He will delight in the fear of the Lord. He will not judge by what He sees with His eyes(Isa.11: 3,4).
But man does not follow the way Jesus shows! When our ears hear or see the "famine in Canaan," we immediately take a decision what our eyes and ears tell us with our intelligent brain. Yes, we immediately decide "Canaan is not a place to live now!" We will leave that place. We do not consult God because we live by our own feelings. Abraham did just like us. "Abram went down into the land of Egypt to live there" (Gen.12:10). Who told him to go to Egypt? Not the Lord God.... His inner feelings said so!
Can't God protect a man during the famine? Definitely can. The scripture says, "Blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord, whose confidence is in him. They will be like a tree planted by the water that sends out its roots by the stream. It does not fear when heat comes; its leaves are always green". Therefore, a man who trusts in the Lord, “like a fruit giving tree, he will never move from his place" until God says!!
Prayer:
Heavenly Father! Please be gracious upon us to stand firm in our faith and to inherit your promise! In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, Amen.
