🔸️ Law must be fulfilled within us! 🔸️

When the Lord Jesus Christ taught, He said "Let there be no thought that I have come to put an end to the law or the prophets. I have not come for destruction, but to make complete. Truly I say to you, till heaven and earth come to an end, not the smallest letter or part of a letter will in any way be taken from the law, till all things are done." (Matthew 5:17,18).

Many today have the feeling that as we are under the grace of the New Covenant, we no longer have to keep the Laws. For such people only, the Lord Jesus said, "I came not to destroy the law, but to fulfill it." In his Epistle, Jude foretold that the grace of the New Testament would be transmitted into a license for immorality and deny Jesus Christ our only Sovereign and Lord. (Jude 4). In the English Scriptures, the word 'lust' is said to be a "license" for doing sin. They think that grace helps them to take the law of God in a very easy manner. Thus, grace is not given for a lower standard of life.

Romans 6:14 states that the grace of God, which one receives in the New Testament, frees him from the power of sin. That is, this grace helps us to keep the laws. In the Old Covenant, one who had failed to keep the laws by his own strength, under the New Covenant can receive the grace which is the power of Holy Spirit and triumph over all the previous laws that he had failed! In this way we are liberated from the Law. In any case, I am freed from the need to obey the outer laws, because I obey the laws in my heart, by grace.

To make this clear, Jesus said, "I came not to destroy the law, but to fulfill it." Jesus did not fulfill the outward fantasies, "Do not commit adultery, do not kill ...." but He fulfilled these laws "within himself" in His inner life.

  Prayer:

Our Loving Father! As we received the grace of the Lord Jesus in vain and do sins in these days, please be gracious upon us to receive your grace and to live holy “in our heart”. In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, Amen.
