🔸️ To reconcile with anyone, the strength of the 'self' must die! 🔸️
As far as we ourselves concerned, we must seek to be at peace with everyone. May be if you speak ill of someone, you should immediately apologize to him and reconcile. The Lord Jesus told us to do this. Jesus said, "Settle matters quickly with your adversary while you are still together on the way" (Matthew 5:25).
The word 'Adversary' specified by the Lord Jesus is God's Word. When we disobey the Word of God or the conscience that speaks to us, that Word of God will eventually come as an adversary to ourselves. What Jesus meant "when he was on the road with the adversary” is when we are still alive. Thus in his own way.... in his lifetime, the one who doesn't reconcile, the Word of God who has become an adversary will finally hand over him to judge before God, the Judge.
God is our Father today! But, for one who doesn't heed Jesus' words very carefully, this loving Father will one day come as a Judge to give the judgement!! When Jesus referred to this, He said, "You will not get out until you have paid the last penny" (Matthew 5:26). The meaning of this verse is that the Judge will judge the man into eternal torment.
So let us all consider the matter of getting “anger” in our heart, very ‘seriously’. One who obeys this verse and desires to remain calm and not get angry in his heart must surely die to his strong self.
Prayer:
Our loving Father! Please be gracious on us to reconcile "while we are on the way" as we are getting angry quite often. Be gracious on us to die to our 'self'! In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, Amen.
