🔸️ Doing the will of the Father is the life that pleases Him! 🔸️
Jesus can be called "Lord" only if we want to do God's will in our daily life. The real change in a man happens not when he is stimulated by his own mind and emotions, but when the man turns his will and says, "Lord, not my will, but Yours be done in my life." Only he who maintains the same attitude before his Lord will become more and more holy and shines in his life!
Throughout His life, Jesus prayed to His Father, "Let not my will be done, but yours be done" (John 6:38). As Jesus needed to live this way to please His Father, we too have no other choice but to please the Father as Jesus did! If this attitude doesn't persist in our lives, we will never grow in harmony with the Lord.
We may have spent many hours in praying, concentrating on Scriptural research and may have attended hundreds of spiritual meetings! But, if we do not reach the position of praying that "Your 'will' be done on Earth (first, in our lives) as Your 'will' is done in heaven", we will be in a pathetic state of wasting all our time!! Each of the graces we have received might have had led us from the depths of our hearts to the position of "Father, not my will.... let Your will be done." This is where the secret of true holiness lies.
Paul wrote to the Galatians, "the flesh desires what is contrary to the Spirit and the Spirit desires what is contrary to the flesh." (Gal.5:17). Here Paul is referring to the struggles between the 'will of man' and the 'will of God'.
Therefore, the doctrine of true sanctification is the doctrine that says 'No' to my 'self-will' and 'Yes' to God, causing my 'self' to death.
Prayer:
Heavenly Father! Grant us the grace to live the life that pleasing You, having Yourselve as "Lord" and doing only Your wish! In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, Amen.
