🔸️ Lord who likes the truth inwardly! 🔸️
When Jesus mentioned of a man entering into the Light, He said "Light has come into the world, but people love darkness instead of light because their deeds are evil. Everyone who does evil hates the light and would not come into the light for fear that their deeds would be exposed. But those who live according to God's truth, come to the one who is like a light" (John 3:19-21). Notice the difference here. Jesus said "anyone who does evil hates the light". We generally know that the opposite word for 'evil' is 'good'. So when Jesus continued saying, we might have expected Him to say that "anyone who does good comes into the Light!" But Jesus didn't say that. Instead, Jesus said, "He who practices the Truth comes to the Light"!
Do you understand the difference that you see here? Yes, Jesus never expects goodness in us at first! He expects the honest truth first!! So the meaning of this verse is "He who is not honest, does evil. But he who comes to the light, though he is not perfect, is the righteous!". If we could come to the light only after the fullness of good in us, not one of us can ever come to the light! But God invites all honest people to come to Him. But, those who have come to Him with honest heart..... as the days go by, little by little they will grow in goodness!!
Only if we love righteousness, we could truly pray the prayer, "forgive us our sins." You may be in deficit. Although, you can definitely get into the light with your flaw! Thus those who honestly confess their sins and come to the Light, are the ones who live 'according to the Truth'. The sins of such people would surely be washed away!
Prayer:
Our heavenly Father! Give us the brighter life of honesty! You will cleanse us of all our sins that are visible in the Light, thank you! In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, Amen.
