 "His Voice Today"

October 2

🔸️ We must be the good fathers! 🔸️

Once upon a time in David's life, his son Absalom plotted against his father. With that, he won the hearts of the Israelites to his side and eventually drove his father David off the throne!!

But even then, some friends remained with David. They were all first class fighters and ready to stand on the battlefield and to fight for David. David knew that these soldiers would one day fight with Absalom. That was why he commanded his general Joab, "For my sake, do not harm my son Absalom and deal gently!" (2 Sam.18:5).

Thus, whenever we have to deal with stringent brothers in the congregation, we should keep the words that David spoke for Absalom in our minds! Yes, "Deal gently with that brother for the sake of the Lord" are the wonderful words we should say along with David!

Later, when David heard the news that "Absalom was killed," David wept bitterly, "Absalom my son, it would have been better if I had died for you!"(2 Sam. 18:33). You see, David is not a teacher! He was the one who had the heart of a father with his arrogant son.

No wonder this David was called by the name "the man worthy of God's heart"!! Because the desire of God was as like that of the heart of David. It means His desire, "I want to die in your place"!! In reflection of this God's desire, the Lord Jesus died for us on Calvary. Thus, only when we enter into fellowship with God's heart, we could truly become a Father!

Prayer:

Heavenly Father! No matter whatever way the children and the brothers may be, our hearts should never lose the love and affection for them; give us the grace to live as a good father; In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, Amen.
